Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is suspected to have done some damage to his hip area and the Czech Republic international was replaced in the second half of the Premiership game at Blackburn Wanderers on Sunday.
Cech charged off his position to clear the ball to safety and Rovers striker Roque Santa Cruz also attacking the ball, there was an accidental collision with the Blues custodian bearing the impact to the hip bone area early in the second half.
The 25-year-old received some treatment on to the field and continued to man the goal but looked clearly in discomfort. At the hour mark, he signalled to the bench and Avram Grant sent on Hilario as the replacement in the 64th minute.
With a festive fixture list always a demanding task, the Blues boss will be hoping there is nothing serious with Cech’s injury while the west London club simply cannot afford to be without another of their most influential player after already being with striker Didier Drogba and skipper John Terry due to injuries.
