Alessandro Del Piero's last-gasp equaliser spared Juventus' blushes as the Bianconeri salvaged a point with a 1-1 draw at mid-table Catania on Saturday.
Gionatha Spinesi's 15th-minute strike looked to have given the hosts all three points but Juventus once again took something from the game at the last moment as Del Piero fired home a penalty on the stroke of full-time.
Coach Claudio Ranieri claimed on Friday that his team could still win the Scudetto as, unlike Roma and Internazionale, they did not have the Champions League to distract them.
Whether he still believes the same after seeing his side miss out on two points in Sicily remains to be seen.
Both sides missed chances in an end-to-end second half and when Marco Biagianti fouled Del Piero in the area late on the scene was set for more Juve drama.
The Juve skipper dusted himself down and fired home the spot kick to steal a valuable point for his side.
The day's other game also finished 1-1 with lowly Empoli and Reggina having to settle for a share of the points at a drenched Carlo Castellani stadium.
Fabio Ceravolo scored in the second minute to give the visitors an early lead before Luca Saudati levelled from the penalty spot just two minutes later.
Saudati missed an opportunity to snatch all three vital points as he missed a second penalty in the 16th minute.
