After a goalless first half, the Portugal winger fired the home side in front on 49 minutes with a low free-kick before Carlos Tevez doubled their advantage six minutes later with a slotted finish.
Ronaldo made it three with a 70th-minute strike before Rio Ferdinand got in on the act by volleying home after a Wayne Rooney chip on 85.
